My ISOSHOT Diet

So I hear everyone talking about how they are on diets consuming their supplements and getting a new fitness club membership.  Then there are these buff fitness/diet gurus dancing and jumping and screaming on the television selling you the promise of weight loss and abs and buns of steel.  Fads pass, money is spent, weight is regained and it’s back to the couch munching carbs, watching the Bears get their stumps handed to them.  Today consumers are well educated and informed about what is bad for their health, but food sometimes sooths the soul and I had to learn to sooth my soul with less with food.

I have lost weight in the past but always seem to put it back on.  So what I learned last year was that I needed a lifestyle change. I tried to buy natural, organic, free range, cage free, fat free, sugar free etc… but it wasn’t a realistic solution.  After much research, I realized if I cut out red meat and chicken, my life span will increase drastically.  Red meat and chicken, whether natural or not, has cancer causing carcinogens in it (“The Dietician’s Guide to Vegetarian Diets, Issues & Applications”, Reed Mangels, Phd, RD, LDN, Virginia Messina MPH, RD, Mark Messina, Phd). This has been known for a while but governments/industry always label things “safe levels”.  Safe levels of carcinogens?  Is there such a thing?

So I started my vegetarian diet and quickly realized I am going to be lacking some nutrients and amino acids that I usually get from meat.  I substituted most of my meat (except fish) with Isoshot Liquid Collagen.  It is a liquid protein made from bovine.  It is 76 calories with 15grams of protein and is fiber enriched.  It also is gluten free and fat & cholesterol free.  Traditionally when you go on a diet and lower you portions, you starve your body of nutrients so your system keeps more of the food you eat automatically to compensate for lack of food/nutrients.  Isoshot Collagen liquid protein gives your body nutrition that you’d normally get from meats but in a non-fat, cholesterol & gluten free form.

So I realized that I can’t be 100% vegetarian.  I need some essential fats & proteins, so I included fish and eggs in my diet but replaced most all other meats I would normally eat with Isoshot Hydrolyzed Collagen.  Isoshot is the liquid protein product made by Essen Nutrition.  Collagen is naturally found in humans and animals and is revolutionizing the way people consume and utilize protein.  It is becoming the next whey protein.  Although whey is a great, it is milk based and has some gluten in it.  Isoshot is Gluten free, Lactose Free and is made of pure Collagen.

I have been using Isoshot for about 8 months along with exercise and my new flexitarian diet.  I have lost close to 25 pounds and put on about 5 pounds of muscle.  Another thing I noticed was my aching bones stopped hurting.  I have had shin splints and ankle pain from past injuries for many years.  Usually when I exercise it is painful but Isoshot got rid of it.  According to Informa Healthcare, a survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control in 2010 showed that roughly 30% of adults experience joint pain, back pain, or arthritis.  Using hydrolyzed collagen is beneficial as an aid to relieve these pains but also is shown to be an effective in preventing such problems.

So does this mean I don’t eat meat anymore?  The main thing about my new lifestyle/diet is that I allow my self-days and sometimes weekends to cheat.  Who could resist a burger or a steak once in a while?   Isoshot has helped me reduce my calorie intake and also gave me nutrients and amino acids that are found mostly in meats that are fattening and have cholesterol.  Speaking of which, that was another thing my doctor found was a positive from my Isoshot diet, my cholesterol decreased.  The reduction in fatty and high cholesterol meats was the main factor in cholesterol levels going down.

ISOPROTEINS Flexitarian Diet:  www. Iso-Shot.com

Substitute at least 2 ISOSHOT protein supplements for your protein needs every day.  Individuals should eat as much fruits and vegetables as they want.  Heavy proteins such as red meat and chicken should be avoided or heavily limited.  ISOSHOT can also be taken before & after daily workouts.

Keep in mind, you get your protein needs from ISOSHOT so please do not eat protein rich foods along with it.  ISOSHOT has 15 grams of protein that is fat & cholesterol free with only 76 calories.

  • Breakfast:  Drink a large glass of water when you get up. 1 Serving ISOSHOT, a yogurt or choice of fruit, Orange, Banana, etc.  Coffee is ok but limit quantity to 1-2 cups/day.
  • Lunch:   Keep on drinking a lot of water and have 1 serving ISOSHOT, Green salad (Lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, mushrooms and vegetables of your choice) and low-fat salad dressing.
  • Dinner:  Tuna, hummus, baked chicken, combined with greens salad or whole grain pasta/bread along with fruits and vegetables.

*Use ISOSHOT for mid afternoon snack or pre-workout supplement.  You can include a low calorie beverage with each meal but always drink a lot of water daily.  Drink Water, Drink Water, Drink Water and Drink MILK.

*CARDIO EXERCISE 30 Minutes a day and lift weights/bodyweight to maintain/build muscle.

*SPEAK WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN BEFORE STARTING ANY DIET/EXERCISE PLAN.

Snacks: Popcorn, Pretzels, Veggie Chips, Peanuts, Almonds and pretty much anything that has no/little bad fats.  Also you can eat as many fruits and vegetables as you want.  Realistically following a diet 7 days a week is difficult and temptation is always there; so my suggestion is to allow yourself to indulge once a week……but then get back on the ISOPROTEINS kick.

      • Remember, if you eat protein with your meals keep your daily intake limited to less than 50-55 grams of protein/day (This includes ISOSHOT which has 15g fat/cholesterol free protein per 8.05oz. serving).
